My memories of Bud were that he was a quiet, strong, family man. He always had a gentle smile on his face when I saw him. He was open to talking about anything, was very intelligent and a very kind, compassionate man. I'm glad that God let him stay on earth for as long as he did. Earth needs more angels like him.

I enjoyed so much getting to know Mr. McDade at the Veterans Health Unit and greatly enjoyed the many chats we had about his love for all of you and about the railroad. To Alma and the entire family; Please accept our most sincere condolences on the passing of your dear Bud. I have nothing but fond memories of Bud, Alma and the family. All part of many saturday evenings spent at the McDade home in the 1970's, most when Bud and Alma and Mom and Dad were off dancing the night away at the Legion. You folks knew how to have fun and made a lot of good memories for one another. Bud and Alma were dear friends to my parents Betty and Earle. I loved working with Bud at the church. One day he asked me to help him change a light bulb in the church foyer. I was 70 and he was 90. We brought a ladder in from the shed and set it up. I started to climb it, and he said, "No just hold it", which I did and he went up the ladder and changed the bulb. He was a great man of God, and will be missed. My deepest condolences to the family. He was very special to me and always maintained a positive attitude in every situation. So sorry to hear this news about Bud. He was truly a great guy. I remember him visiting me after his son passed and just wanted to talk about the loss of his son. I feel broken hearted today as he felt about his son when he visited me that day. My prayers and condolences are with the family today. He and his wife will be missed at the Legion suppers.
