Pat and family please accept my sincere condolences. As a colleague of Graham's for over twenty years, I knew him as a scholar, a wonderful teacher and a gentleman and yes, a gentle man. He has left a lasting legacy and I am proud to have know him. RIP

My sincere condolences to the Powell family on the passing of your father. Dr. Powell was a quiet, dignified and patient teacher to numerous cohorts of young Forestry students over the years at UNB. He made the complex seem simple and the simple became fascinating. It was my honour to sit with him at Encaenia a few years ago while representing the Board of Governors.

I was a student and research assistant with Professor Powell, from 1985 to 1988. He had the most profound impact on my career and development as a forester, and later as a forestry lecturer. His courses were legendary, rigorous, challenging and inspiring. The learning has stuck with me through 40 years. I am sure others would agree. So my thanks to Professor Powell for all that he contributed as a teacher, scientist and advisor. And my thoughts with family, friends and the community he cherished.

My sincere condolences to family and friends. Graham was a wonderful Prof and very kind to his students. More recently, I enjoyed talking with him at the Fredericton Boyce Farmers market Saturday mornings. RIP Dr Powell.
