Dear Elynor and family, I just this morning, April 11th, received news of Charlie's passing. I feel so deeply saddened. Charlie has been on my mind the past several weeks, and I was intending to call to say hello, but between work and the Passover holiday, things here in Israel have been hectic. I am so sorry I did not immediately listen to my inner voice and call. Charlie was the most exemplary person I have worked with in my life. He gave me the courage to believe in myself, to embrace challenges, and he gave me the proverbial wings to fly...and I did...to Romania, to Tanzania, the Yukon and many other places, accepting work challenges that I probably would have missed had Charlie not given me the gift of believing in myself and in my ability to learn new things. He probably would have chuckled to learn that I am now the contracts manager for the 2nd largest Jewish publishing house in the world, thanks to the training he gave me. Your husband and father/grandfather was an exemplary man, lauded by his contemporaries and rightly so. He was also a compassionate man, quick to respond to and assist those in difficult straits. He will be sorely missed. My deepest heartfelt condolences are extended to you. May Charlie's soul always feel close by, and may his memory comfort and guide you through the years to come.
