Dear Deborah and families, I am so sorry to read John has passed away. I first worked with Mr. John Hanson, KC on June 16, 1970 at Hanson Gilbert & Hashey for 38 years. I admired his calm, modest and humble personality. His methodical personality gave any huge case a path to positive solutions rather than dissention. He would soon to have been celebrating his birthday on September 17. My heart is with you Deborah, families and friends as you cope with such a loss.

I remember John fondly as a fellow y member who attended early morning work out sessions and then retreated to breakfast at. Diner in sunshine gardens. Alexa (Vaughan) and I send our sympathies to John's family. We were colleagues in our professions and part of a wonderful fellowship that developed. We were blessed to be able to meet, fish, and tell stories at Fraser Companies' fishing lodge on the Kedgwick River in New Brunswick. They were the best of times. Thank you John.

My desk used to be right outside John's office at Hanson Hashey & then Cox Hanson O'Reilly Matheson. I can still hear him holler out "Mrs. Carlisle" aka Dianne as if it was just yesterday. He was a gentleman and well respected. My condolences to Deborah & the rest of John's family. Rhonda Boyd

It was not law but salmon fishing where our paths intersected. In the 1970's, we socialized, shared stories and libations numerous evenings in the Great Room at Mill Brook Farm on the Upsalquitch River. In 2017, on the evening of our Life Membership in the NB Law Society, John sought me out gifting me with the renewal of friendship through several humourous salmon stories. I first met John Hanson in 1974 when he interviewed me for a student articling position at the firm of Hanson, Gilbert & Hashey. We then spent the next 40 some years together, with many others, in the practice of law. John was known to all as a kind and giving person. He always had time for others. My sympathy to Deborah and his extended family.

I had the pleasure of knowing John my entire life and we became fast friends when I joined Hanson, Hashey and Scott as an associate lawyer in 1979, eventually becoming one of his law partners. In the 1980’s, we travelled together extensively- numerous trips south, the United Kingdom, the Far East, India, and an East African safari (where fortunately we survived a hot air balloon crash!). John’s easy-going nature and generosity of spirit made him the perfect travelling companion. My heartfelt condolences go out to Deborah, Kristen, Megan, and Alison. John’s life was definitely well-lived and he will be missed by a huge network of friends. John, rest in peace. Julian Dickson
