It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Theodore “Ted” Colson on March 18, 2026 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was born on July 12, 1935 in Hancock, New York.
Ted was a professor of English Literature at the University of New Brunswick until he retired. In his free time, he was a painter, a poet, and an avid fisherman.
Ted will be sadly missed by his daughter, Amy Colson; stepson, Adam Rushton; stepdaughter, Heather Manuel; sister, Judith Ganton, and extended family, students, and friends.
In addition to his wife, Edie (Batt) Colson, he is predeceased by his mother, Helen Colson; father, Lewis Colson; his daughter Amy’s mother, Judy Colson, and his sister, Rebecca Sandel.
A memorial service will take place at Wilmot United Church on Monday March 23, 2026 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
