TO John nd Family:
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your wonderful Ann, We met as volunteers at Hospice Boutique. Our opening line as I would leave the first shift and she would come in for the second. was always "Hello, Ann, how are you today Ann ?"
When I told her that my name had an "e" at the end she said "Oh well, I will forgive you for that".
It was my great pleasure to introduce her to the Ann Cleeves novels ,leading to animated discussions while making the transitions form my work to her work each Monday. She was such a breath of fun. intelligence and good humour.
I am honoured to have known her.

Dear John, Neil, Brian, Shaun and Maura,
Our family is very upset with Ann's passing. I am so grateful Ellen was able to attend the funeral today to give you all hugs - please know El's hugs were from all of us Pachs (Joey, Dad and me included). I do have stories to share, the first one involves Dad: It was 1993. January. I had 2 babies when Brian (my Brian!) landed a contract with Esso Malaysia. We had to pack up our house in Calgary, sell and move. Dad came out to help and I remember Dad orchestrating the de-clutterring of my completely stuffed Sewing Room. He instructed me to hold a green garbage bag open. He’d hold something up and if I hesitated, garbage it was! He was ruthless! When he held up a small gadgety looking thingy, I hesitated – mostly ‘cos I didn’t know what it was – Dad said “I need this! I have to fix a music box for Annie and this is just the part I need!” . . . I loved Ann like a mother and considered her my “East Coast Mom”, especially after Mom died in 2000. Ann was very fond of Mom and would always remind me of how much she missed her and your weekly Bridge Games. As kids I remember how we’d have our family Christmas Dinners together - always Roast Beef as a special treat instead of Turkey and we’d alternate your place or ours but it is the Winslow gatherings I recall the most. I will always remember Ann as beautiful, glamorous, always perfectly put together, warm, loving, caring and kind. I loved basking in the comfort of her affection. I will miss her dearly. Loving you all THIS much and so wishing I had been there today. Love Laurie
photos - not great photos but still:
2006 Ann with my Children: Parker (b. 1992), Charlie (b. 1990), Ann, Christopher (b. 1993 Ellen's son), Cimarron (b. 1996)
2016 Ann having dinner at our place here in Victoria and that's my husband, Brian, who prepared the meal
2016 and there's John - obviously I was taking the photos! . . . and we played Bridge after dinner.

Brian, Gwyneth, Lauren, Carolyn and your whole family. The loss of this oh so remarkable person to you, to the community and the world is enormous. Your hearts broken but your heads high as you carry her legacy forward. I cannot imagine her pride in each of you and being equally happy in a meadow or a ballroom is the exact image I have of each of you. This, this exact philosophy she gave to you and thus to us, and we are grateful. With much love to all of you and yours.
