Sorry to hear that my uncle Frank has passed .This is Brian Sauntry ...Ben's son .I have lost touch with most of my family and have only a few memories from child hood of the Sauntry clan .I have one memory of Frank visiting us in nova scotia when I was likely around 10-12 years old .I remember him staying with us a few days and even then thinking he was a man to respect .One early morning I noticed him leaving the house and wondered where he going .Mom told me he went out for a walk around the neighborhood for some exercise .I thought walking was something you did to get where you wanted to go not exercise. I rode my bike for fun not exercise. Of course this was the seventies and no one in my house exercised .warm wishes

The members of the Canadian Forces Supplementary Radio (SUPRAD) System Oldtimers Association were saddened by the news of Frank's passing. All those who had the pleasure of serving with Major Sauntry, when he was the Commanding Officer at Canadian Forces Station Alert (Jul - Dec 94) will forever remember the enjoyable times that were shared. Alert's 'Frozen Chozen', share a special bond with each other. We will remember Frank as someone who served their country with distinction and with great pride. My condolences to Aunt Jeannette and cousin Victor in this tragic time. Uncle Frank will be remembered by myself and my family as a wonderful kind man. He lived with us briefly when we were children for one year. He always had the whimsy of his Irish fun side with him and was quick to joke. I was very proud of his award he received from Ireland, and of his proud military career. He always had time for family. In my eyes a man to look up to and emulated, much like my father.

My condolences to Aunt Jeannette and Victor. I have great memories of Uncle Frank from back when he briefly lived with us in Montreal prior to joining the Air Force and all the visits after. My parents enjoyed and eagerly looked forward to whenever Frank and Jeannette visited them in St. Catharines. Uncle Frank will be missed by all those who loved and respected him.

Jeannette and Victor, we are so very sorry for your lost. We were one of the neighbours who could always “set our watch” by Frank’s walk every morning at 7:00am, and could sometimes have a chat, meeting him on another walk later in the day. We extend our sincere condolences.

My condolences. Frank was one of my favourite uncles growing up. He came and lived with us in montreal one year for a short period and I remember it fondly. He caused havoc among my 2 brothers and I which we enjoyed immensely…. Though my mother didn’t ! He will be missed.
