Obituary of Robert David Lewis

With heavy hearts, the family of Robert (Bob) Lewis announces his passing at Shannex on January 20th, 2025, after a courageous battle with dementia. Bob was 78 years old.

Born in Fredericton on November 29th, 1946, Bob was the son of the late Laurence and Eileen (Delahunt) Lewis. He was the beloved husband of Patricia “Patti” Lewis for 46 years.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his sons, Steven Lewis (Stacy Coy), David Lewis (Sarah), and Andrew Lewis (Sarah Rogerson), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Joseph, Kaitlin, Elliot, and Owen. He also leaves behind his siblings, Don Lewis (Monique), Carol McCoombs (Gerry), Bruce Lewis (Val Biskupski), Margaret Wickett, and Kathy Lewis (Brent Hickman), along with several nieces, nephews, and their children.

Bob grew up in Fredericton and dedicated 37 years of service to Air Canada. During his summer breaks, he worked tirelessly to build several homes in the area, showcasing his strong work ethic and his knack for getting the job done right. Whether it was a new build or a repair, Bob was always ready to help others, offering his knowledge and skill to make sure things were done properly. Though work was important, Bob’s family always came first. His retirement years were spent enjoying time with his beloved grandchildren, where his calm and patient manner made him a cherished presence. His grandchildren loved to spend time with their “Grampy,” creating many special memories together, especially during the annual Lewis family reunions in Shediac each summer.

Bob will be remembered as a kind, selfless man with a deep and unwavering faith. His commitment to his family, his generosity of spirit, and his quiet strength will never be forgotten. Bob’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Friday, January 24th from 4:00- 6:00 pm.   A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, January 25th at Holy Family Church on Hanwell Road starting at 12:00 pm with Fr Bill Brennan as celebrant. A reception will follow the service in the church basement. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember a man whose life exemplified faith, love, and service to others.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fredericton Community Kitchen in Bob’s honor, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others.
