With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Carol Ann (Mader) Stevens on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton NB.

Born in New Germany, NS, in 1946, she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Virginia (Tanner) Mader. She lived most of her life in Nova Scotia and moved to New Brunswick in 2022 to be closer to family.

Carol will be dearly missed by daughters, Catherine Stevens-Phillips (Bruce), Hanwell; Crystal Stevens (Don), Summerside, PE; grandchildren, Isaac Phillips, Virginia Phillips, Brianna Henry, Nicholas Meade, Grace Meade; sisters, Dawn Corkum, New Germany; Faye Penney (Darrell), Kingston; Judith (Joseph Mullins), Kitchener, ON.; Patricia Wentzell, New Germany; Diane (Kim) Frittenburg, Bridgewater; Kimberley Smith, Hemford; brothers, Ivan, Lower Sackville; Gordon (Thelma), Dartmouth; Ross, Squamish, BC; Dennis (Wendy), Lunenburg; Richard, Chilliwack, BC; Eric (Annette), New Germany; Allen (Valerie), Kentville; Theodore (Ruth), Bridgewater; Barrie (Ken Scriver), New Germany; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings Marilyn, David, Doris and partner Bill Hood.

Carol was a loving mom and adoring grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and baker, well known for her apple pies and brown bread. She opened her heart to several dogs over the years, Molly, Muffin and most recently, her grand-pup Huey who always kept a close eye on her for extra treats. She enjoyed family gatherings, celebrations and socializing with friends. She enjoyed sharing stories about her children, grandchildren, and childhood memories of growing up in a large family in New Germany.

Carol’s career spanned over 20 years at Sears Canada, starting in the packing department, moving on to sales. She enjoyed meeting and helping people and retired as a successful commission salesperson.

Our family sends its sincere gratitude to the Chalmers Regional Hospital and especially the Palliative Care team for their kindness and compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the IWK, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of the donor's choice.
