Obituary of David Stanley Emmerson
With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of David Stanley Emmerson on February 25, 2025. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on April 23, 1946, David was the eldest child of Stanley and Virginia (Bishop) Emmerson.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Gail (Nugent), with whom he shared more than 52 years of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with family, friendship, and community. He was a proud and loving father to Jennifer and Melissa (Randy) Wheaton and an adoring grandfather to Drew and Mia, who brought him endless joy.
David is also survived by his brother, Peter (Debbie) Emmerson of Toronto, his sister, Jane (David) Hubbard of Fredericton, and nine nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
David’s career began as a commercial loans officer with the Bank of Nova Scotia, where he embraced each new opportunity with enthusiasm, moving across the Maritimes before settling in Toronto. There, he joined Ford Motor Credit, but his heart was always set on returning home. In 1981, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to Fredericton and becoming the proud owner of Riverview Ford Lincoln. His dedication and integrity earned him deep respect from colleagues, employees, customers and the community. David was not just a businessman - he was a mentor, a leader, and a friend.
Beyond his career, David had a heart for giving back. He was a dedicated Kiwanis member, a board member for Portage Atlantic, supporter of Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, and proudly served as President of the Fredericton Canadiens.
David’s passions were as vibrant as his personality. He loved boating on the Saint John River and long, scenic rides in his convertible cars. Inspired by his father Stan, he had an appreciation for architecture and design, always eager to embark on a new renovation project. Dave loved 50s music, often filling his home, car, or boat with the sounds of his favorite Elvis and Beach Boys songs.
David’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for their compassionate care during his final days.
