Kendall was a dear friend from high school. He & I bonded in grade 12 spending countless hours working on our high school yearbook, as head photographer & editor, respectively. He was a gifted photographer back in the days when we processed our own rolls of film in the school's darkroom. Our yearbook committee was boldly producing the school's first book with colour pages so Kendall led our creative team with stacks of black & white & colour photos from which to choose.
Beyond the yearbook project, Kendall loved basketball & volleyball playing on the senior varsity teams in our small school. He was quick with a smile or laugh to put others at ease, & just as quick to stand up for someone being picked on or to offer help to those in need. We also tried to solve many of the world's (if only our small world) problems over a cold glass of beer or two.
We saw each other a few times as we went separate ways in university with his path of studies leading to ministry in the United Church of Canada. We lost touch for many years while I was hopping across the country in the military. We tried to reconnect when I moved back to NB in 2006 but we only chatted on social media, never able to find a suitable time & place to meet despite at times living barely 40 minutes apart by vehicle.
From his teen years, Kendall's values were rooted in his faith &, from my perspective & those of his fellow ministers & congregation who have left tributes online, he most definitely lived his life in the faith, walking the talk as it were.
I extend sincere sympathies to Kendall's wife Carmen, son Isaac & family members, & the many colleagues & congregants in his faith family. Many of us would say Kendall's time on Earth has ended too soon. We know he has brightened & soothed the lives of so many on his journey as a minister & a fellow human. Kendall's steadfast faith would assure us that he is with his Lord & Saviour.
Rest in peace, Kendall.

To Carmen, Isaac and all the members of Kendall‘s family.
We were saddened to hear of the sudden death of Kendall. HIs outreach ministry played a valuable role in the life and work of ministry personnel and pastoral charges within the United Church of Canada.
While we were living in Halifax, I was involved as cochair of Halifax Presbytery’s pastoral relations Committee and after 2009 when we moved to Bathurst, I continued to work with Kendall on past relations matters within Miramichi Presbytery. Kendall‘s insight and supportive ministry always played a valuable role for both ministry personnel and pastoral charges within our church his dedication and commitment to his ministry were definitely an important part of his calling to ministry..
May the spirit of God be source of hope and comfort in your time of loss.
God bless
Rev., Blair and Ruth Lewis.

My sincere condolences to Kendall’s family. I am so sorry for your loss. I am especially grateful to Kendall for suggesting my name to Ebenezer church in Bermuda where my husband and I very much enjoyed my time in ministry there. He stayed with us at the manse on a pastoral visit of support to the Wesleyan Methodist church. Since my retirement and the split into regions I had sadly not been in touch with him. A faithful servant of Christ may he Rest In Peace and May you his family find comfort and joy in your memories of his deep love for you and his life fully lived.May you know the presence and peace of Christ in these days of grief.

My heart breaks for Carmen who enjoyed happy years and made many good memories with her dear man. I was grateful to get to know Kendall and share craft beer together on occasion -especially in Finland and so appreciated the hand made wooden box of get well beer from he and Carmen when I was recovering from an injury. A gentle man gone too soon. Sending prayers for peace and comfort to Carmen and family. Apologies I will not be able to attend the memorial gathering in April.

I grew up in Plaster Rock as Kendall did but I am ten years older. We didn't really know each other in those years. I encountered Kendall in my work on the Church Council in Sackville. I appreciated his assistance and support in that time and while he lived in Sackville we encountered each other quite often. His mother and mine were best of friends. Mom was active in her church. Kendall was an incredible resource to the people in that congregation. Mom was so proud of him.
Nancy and I offer our condolences to all of Kendall's family. We are confident that you have so many good memories of him in your lives. These, I hope, offer peace in these sad times.

Kendall was a wonderful support, guide and mentor to me on my journey into the United Church. He listened. He cared. He took the time. He said some of the kindest, most affirming words I heard on my path towards ordination, and I will be forever grateful to his big heart and wise mind, and how it helped to form me for ministry. I am sure I speak for many when I say I feel cracked open by the loss and the beauty of his life.

Kendall was a mentor and guide to many, many candidates for ministry, myself included. He tried unsuccessfully to teach me patience and appreciation for opposing points of view. I recall one workshop when he told us that he did not like receiving gifts - he never knew what to say and felt there was no need for others to show their gratitude when he could not reciprocate. I think that was because he was so generous in sharing his gifts of compassion, understanding, kindness, generosity and mercy. May you all be comforted by the opportunity to love a man who loved so deeply.

Carmen, Isaac, Karen and Colleen and families,
First of all, I would like to say how very shocked and sad I was when I heard of Ken’s passing. My heart goes out to all of you and please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
I had the utmost respect for Kendall and have had since our days together growing up on the Tobique. He was a large part of our family through my high school years, a “townie” who toughed it out in the hay field, long shirt and all! We spent a lot of time together in those years, played sports together, trips to camp, Sat morning smurfs show(Ken was the only one of our group to complete the hour long show(IYNYK)=Legend), and he also allowed me to use his ID when I needed to, Jan 9/1963, I have that date etched in my memory. He was like a big brother to me.
As time marched along and we got involved in our own families we did not stay in touch as much as we probably should have. Thankfully over the last 10-15 years we reconnected via social media and really picked up where we left off years ago. In a world where we struggle to know what the truth is, I trusted what Kendall posted on line and would often share his posts with my family. Most recently we followed the provincial election together, sharing thoughts on how we thought it would go, I was looking forward to doing the same for the coming federal election. I also followed his passion for reading via his FB site and would often purchase books that he recommended. For me he was one of those guys you just trust, if he said it, I believed it.
A good friend of mine once said “life is for the living”, which I understand but losing Kendall at what I would consider such a young age and with so much more to give has been tough, really, really tough. I am sad, we are all sad. He was a great and trusted friend, and I will miss him.

Many blessings to Carmen and Kendall's family. I am so sorry for the huge loss of Kendall Harrison. As a Conference Personnel Minister and most recently as a Pastoral Relations Minister, his care for ministers and their families was unparalleled. In our United Church New Creed, its says of God, "We are not alone." Kendall lived his faith by making sure people were not alone when they needed a loving presence the most.

Kendall was one of my best people I ever knew in my lifetime of friendships. His heart remained true to his home and family. We graduated from, STU and AST and were ordained together. Over the years reconnecting was infrequent but oh so natural and easy when the occasion presented itself. Since returning to NB I have had the pleasure of working with Kendall again as he motivated me to return to Ministry. I saw him in December in the Craft Beer Section of the ANBL on York Street. It was a quick reunion filled with laughter as it was the only spot in the city that I expected to see him by chance. In our recent conversations he shared how he cherished his life with Carmen and his relationship with his son. My sincere condolences to his family and many friends.

I am shocked and saddened by this loss. I first heard of Kendall when he was on internship in southwest Saskatchewan where friends were supervising him and/or working with him . We met when he was personnel minister in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario and part of the leadership team for an educational supervision training I was attending. He moved back to the Maritimes around the time I did- over the years I worked with him on Interview Board and as I served as an educational supervisor. He was also a valued mentor and guide in my times of discernment and transition. He had a gift for listening and meeting individuals and faith communities where we are . These last 5 years he was a tremendous support to us ministry personnel , providing weekly check-ins. That’s when I learned more about his eclectic reading, passion for justice and his life beyond the intense and challenging church work to which he dedicated these many years. He had so much living left to do and so much more to offer us. Sending love to all his family and friends.

So fortunate to have had Kendall serve on our Pastoral Charge (Canterbury-Richmond). He touched the lives of many people; especially the non-churchgoers. My Dad especially. Kendall and Dad had many a discussion about Craft Breweries which were popping up everywhere at the time. When Dad was regaining consciousness after his stroke and Kendall was at his bedside (which Kendall was famous for - being there when he was needed most!) Dad told Kendall to go get a six pack of beer and they would share a beer with Kendall & my Brothers! We got a great laught about that! Kendall was wonderful with all the children in our pastoral charge and even listened to every question they asked. Especially the time my niece asked him why prayers ended in "Amen" and not "Awomen"! Sending sympathy to all of Kendall's family and friends. He will be missed! Rest easy in the arms of the Holy Mystery my friend!
