Obituary of Althea Mae Barlow
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our aunt, Althea Mae Barlow, in her 98th year, on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Althea was born in Saint John, NB on May 9th, 1927, to the late Arthur & Retta (Clarke) Ellis.
She lived in Saint John for many years before moving to Fredericton with her husband, the late Burton Barlow. She belonged to Christ Church (Parish) Church, where she was an active member and volunteer over the years. Her handcrafts, knitting and baking were well known at many church sales throughout the years. Her greatest pleasures in life were being with her husband Burton, entertaining family and enjoying outings with her many good friends. Althea was a great animal lover. The past few years she was so grateful to the ElderDog Society for looking after her dog, Precious and bringing new special friends into her life.
Althea is survived by her nieces and nephews, William Stratton (Jennifer) of Ottawa, ON, Sharon Salter (Joseph) of Sydney Mines, NS, Janice Stephenson (late Don) of Halifax, NS, Peter Nickerson (Iris) of Sydney Mines, NS, Richard Stratton (Esther) of Ottawa, ON, Lynda Gow of Saint John, NB, Bruce Gow (late Trudy) of Saint John, NB, and Darlene Franklin (Neil) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB as well as several great nephews and nieces.
