Obituary of Patrick Lawrence Buckley

It is with broken hearts we share the sudden passing of Pat Buckley, 71, in Rimouski, Quebec, on May 26, 2025.

Pat was predeceased by his parents, Bernice and Vincent; infant brother, Daniel; sister, Lorraine; and sister-in-law, Barb.

Pat is survived by his wife and best friend of over 44 years, Shelley (Baird); son, Leigh (Caroline Del Frate); daughter, Kelsey (Taylor MacDougall) and grandchildren, Lilly and Jack; brother, Bob; sister, Marlene (Mahlon); sister-in-law, Barbara (George); brother-in-law, Bruce (Marilyn); many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

Pat enjoyed the simple things in life and lived life to the fullest. He was an avid golfer and a member at the Fredericton Golf Club for many years, and a more recent member of the Sussex Golf and Curling Club. He enjoyed spending summers on Grand Lake with family and friends, boating, and fly fishing on the Miramichi with dear friends. He was a valued member of the community and spent countless hours flooding the outdoor rink in the Village of Gagetown. He had a long and well-respected career in the pharmaceutical industry and was proud of all his successes. His greatest accomplishment was raising a family and being a dedicated husband, father, and Poppy. He loved helping others any chance he could, whether it be with sports, work, or in the community. He was known for his integrity and building great relationships wherever he went. His laughter, humour, positivity, and larger-than-life personality will be missed, but his memories and stories will live forever. As Pat would say, “Ain’t life grand!”

The family is deeply grateful for the support and compassion of the hockey community during this time.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at the Fredericton Golf Club on Thursday, June 12, between 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, Cardiac Care.
