I was so sorry to read of Gary's death, and my condolences to Carol and family. I met Gary in Calgary after I had transferred
there with AirCanada and I became a roommate of Carols. Gary was such an easy going and optimistic man and it was always
a pleasure to be in his company. I lost touch with Carol and Gary when they moved to Fredericton but I did bump into him a few times in Toronto airport where I was working later on and it was like the years had never happened. He was without a doubt a lovely man. The world has lost a truly wonderful person.

I never met Gary in person though I felt I knew him. I appreciated his role in the resistance to the sale of NB Power during the Shawn Graham government. If you want to see a few clips of his interview, search the internet for Jon Mann's documentary film entitled "Project Power." My condolences to the family.

Dear Lita, Kristian and Carol - April and I are so sorry for your loss. I remember how caring and kind your father was. During the ‘Characters’ years he never hesitated to reach out and lend a hand. If it hadn’t been for his advice and support the group would never have performed at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. You were blessed with a father who instilled within you both the qualities of empathy and goodness. April and I wish you peace and comfort as you grieve, please accept our sincere condolences at the loss of your dad. Much love from both of us. Philip & April Sexsmith

Regrettably, we are unable to attend the celebration of his life as I recently broke a bone in my foot which limits my movements. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I am sure that if one searched the definition of “gentleman” a picture of Gary would appear. I had the privilege of working with Gary on a few of the many organizations he volunteered for. Gary will be missed by all that knew him and our deepest condolences go out to Carol, Lita and Kristian.

I met Carol in the Staff Room of Montgomery Elementary School shortly after moving to Fredericton in 1969. Carol and I taught in classrooms beside each other at Priestman Street School. We, along with our Husbands formed an incredible friendship that has lasted these 50 plus years. Gary and Carol were ALWAYS so supportive of our numerous moves and visited us wherever we lived over the years as we, in turn visited them. As recently as last year, I spent a few days with them in their new home. Dinners in each other's homes were aplenty. There are so many fabulous memories of weekends in Quebec City and, Edmonston to feast on the culinary arts of Wandlyn chefs!
I can hear Wilson making some inane comment and Gary bursting into that unforgettable laugh.
My thoughts are with Carol, Lita and Kristian. May you find comfort in knowing that so many are saddened by your loss.
We are feeling it too.
Rest in Peace, My Beloved Friend, Gary.

I have many great memories from my time living with the family in the early 90’s. He was always welcoming with his smile and genuine interest in story sharing. I loved our conversations. My favourite was likely that first dinner when he stunned me with his inquisition. I also smile when remembering the intensity of his mission to remove every last “army worm” out of his backyard. It was my first time wrapping trees with tinfoil and Vaseline! Sending condolences, and support, to the rest of the family, and light perpetual shine upon his kind and loving soul.

Gary filled a room with joy. I always remember him smiling from ear to ear and was always quick with a joke. He will be dearly missed.
