Obituary of Bernard Powis Barsby

Announcing the death of Bernard “Buz” Barsby, long time resident of Fredericton, New Brunswick. He passed away peacefully at the age of 90 at the Fredericton Veteran's Health Unit on June 7, 2025.

In addition to being retired from the army, Buz was an active member of the Fredericton Flying Club, a flight instructor, and commercial pilot.

He is survived by three stepchildren, Sheila, Randall and Trevor; nieces, Elizabeth Johnson and Susan Barsby, and their families.

Buz was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Margaret (Warren) Thompson, with whom he shared many adventures - cycling across Canada, canoeing the Trent Severn Waterway, and hiking the Bruce Trail end-to-end. He was also predeceased by his brother, Raymond.

In keeping with Buz’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Veteran's Health Unit or the Royal Canadian Legion.
