Obituary of Joseph Donald Kennedy

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph “Joe” Donald Kennedy, on June 28th, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Joe was born on May 30th, 1950, in Minto, NB. He was the son of the late Ralph and Audrey (MacRae) Kennedy, and husband to his beloved wife, Carol (Smith) Kennedy.

Joe was a devoted husband, cherished father, and an amazing grampy. He loved his family deeply, and he will be greatly missed by all of us. His smile and warmth will be forever remembered by his wife, Carol; children, Tony, Jason (Sarah Elizabeth), and Sarah Kathleen; grandchildren, Maryanne and Jacob; sisters, Susan Kennedy-MacMullin, and Carolyn Pellerin (Don); sister-in-law, Linda Seguin; brother-in-law, Glenn Austin, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is now reunited with his parents, Ralph and Audrey; brother-in-law, Dale MacMullin, and niece, Jillian Bellows.

Joe was passionate about his 40+ year career in the electrical industry as an Electrician and Automation Solution Specialist. Despite the long hours he spent working he was devoted to his children and their many activities like soccer, karate, scouts and many more. When his children were young, he loved to put them to bed with “tell stories” instead of reading books, showcasing his imagination and love for the farm he grew up on. When he became a grandfather, nothing made him smile more than speeding down the hallway in his wheelchair with his grandchildren along for the ride.

The family would like to thank the staff of 4NW at the DECH and Dr. Ross Kenny for all the kindness, compassion and care shown to Joe and our family during the last number of months.  A special thank you to Homecare worker, Stacey James for the wonderful care given to Joe and the family in the years prior to his hospitalization.

We will celebrate and honour Joe’s memory with some photos and brief stories on Friday, July 4th, 2025, at Youngs Cove United Church, from 1 - 2 pm. We will continue to honour Joe with a Celebration of Life in the Youngs Cove United Church at 2 pm with Rev. Phillip Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in the Youngs Cove United Church Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Joe’s name may be made to Ability NB or Youngs Cove United Church.
