Jeannie was a significant part of the magic, cheerfulness, hospitality, history, and fresh air of Robertson Point. She always had a heartwarming story and a new anecdote about her years working with my father at Chalmers Hospital. Jeannie's zealous "hello" from her open car window every time she drove by our cottage was always energizing. I'm extra grateful Jeannie yelled out "hello" one more time eight weeks ago from across the farm field when she spotted me walking around the Point. It led to a memorable afternoon on her lawn on a perfect spring day, nurtured by a few glasses of wine and a conversational voyage that seemingly touched on every topic in the news and the past, present and future of the Point. Sending my deepest sympathies to the Skead family and Bevan. The Point will be less sunny, less amusing from now on without cheerful, brilliant Jeannie Skead. (PHOTO: August 2012).

Wow I’m in shock to hear of Jeanie’s passing. She saved my life a few years ago while we were nursing together at Mill Cove nursing home when my blood pressure was so high. She said “Sherrill you could have a stroke! You know better because you are a nurse yourself!” I then went and got treated. You will be missed Jeanie and it was an honour and privilege to have worked with you. Rest easy. Deepest sympathy to the family and friends. <3

Robertson’s Point was a magical place and Jeannie was a part of that magic. She moved with such energy, love, and generosity of spirit. One of my favourite memories was of her in a light summer dress, cruising around the loop, invariably with goodies in her basket to share with someone.
My children were blessed to spend time at the lake visiting their grandparents and visiting with Jeannie was always a highlight. They have fond memories of her, her genuine interest in them, and she was usually not long in searching for or producing a treat for them.
We all feel so blessed to have had Jeannie share her energy and Joie de Vivre with us.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family. We pray that you find comfort in the memories of the time you had with her.
With sympathy,
Anne and Derek McLellan, Josiah, Robyn, and Eliza

We have never known Robertson Point without Jeannie, and it is almost impossible to appreciate the emptiness her passing has left. For Jeannie was the true lighthouse of the Point; welcoming beyond words, and caring beyond compassion itself.
Her infectious energy and zest for life transcended the simplicity of the things that brought her joy. Her passions of gardening and cooking were Jeannie’s happy places; and while without question she took delight in the activities themselves, it was true to her oh-so-caring nature that she thrilled in the happiness they brought to others.
Gone but not forgotten may be an overused memorial, but in Jeannie’s case it couldn’t be more fitting. Her light shines on!

David, Andy and Families,
As we welcome in another summer at Robertson Point, your mum will be missed on the sandy beach. Throughout the years, the children flocked to her and she was often the first in the water! She loved summer and all that it offered! We are thinking of you all during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of working with Jeannie on 3NW at the DECH in the 80’s and 90’s. It was such a great time to be with her as she worked with a labouring couple. She always had the greatest respect. I learned so much from her as a young nurse.
Condolences to all the family.

It was February 1980 and I gave birth to a “wee lass “named Erin. Jeannie was my attending nurse and she was so much fun. As a new mother I had no idea what to expect, let alone do, and she made me at ease. We laughed and she was the bright light of my days there. Over the years, I would bump into her and we would chat and get caught up. She never forgot me and I never forgot her-
Jeannie was one of a kind.
I am very sad to learn of her passing.
I am sure she and Bill are together somewhere over Scotland listening to the bag pipes….
