Obituary of Knighta Kohout

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Knighta Kohout announces her passing on July 5, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, in Fredericton, NB.  Born in Grand Falls, NB, on July 27, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Solange (Powers) McLaughlin.

Knighta was a caring nurse, a loving mother, wife, sister and grandmother. She was fun-loving, had a wonderful sense of humour, and one felt her presence in any room she entered. She and Bob spent many wonderful years in Lower Economy, NS, where they enjoyed quiet times by the ocean and lively gatherings with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Kohout; daughters, Susan Wood (Dan Dixon) and Amy Wood; step-son, Riley Stewart (Keith); grandchildren, Nik (Leo), Avery, Tyler, Nadia and Clara; sisters, Marina Ebbecke, Cynthia McLaughlin and Rhonda Kennedy; brothers, Andy McLaughlin, Pat McLaughlin and Mike McLaughlin; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Jackie McLaughlin.

Knighta loved to say, “I’ve been good all my life, and now I can be bad!” And though she was never really bad, she certainly had fun trying…
