Obituary of Alan Eugene Mockler
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the unexpected passing of Alan Mockler on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, at the age of 62.
Alan will be deeply missed by his wife, Sophie, his son and best friend, Alex, and Sarah, whom he lovingly considered a daughter-in-law. His loss is also profoundly felt by his devoted mother, Doris; his identical twin brother, Andy (Liza); his brother, Gary; and his sister, Jo-Anne (Allan). He will also be missed by his father- and mother-in-law, Eric and Gertrude; his two sisters-in-law, Liette (Stanley) and Martine (Léonard); as well as his nieces and nephews: Alyssa, Alex (his GodSon), Matthew (his GodSon), Andrew, Charles, Zoé (his GodDaughter), Elliot, and Antoine.
Alan is reunited in peace with his late father, Pete (Eugene) Mockler, K.C., whom he deeply loved and admired.
He also leaves behind many Mockler and Clark cousins, uncles, aunts, dear friends, his staff, his beloved Shih Tzu, Sam, a special family friend, Veronica.
Alan was incredibly close to his family and served as our go-to person for so many things. He had a big heart and was always ready to help. Those who knew Alan will remember him in his signature casual tracksuit and sneakers, carrying his to-do Post-it notes—a small yet endearing reflection of his thoughtful, organized, and always-on-the-go nature. If you were lucky enough to make it onto one of those notes, you could expect several phone calls from him. And if he lost one, he’d make us search through all the trash and call anyone who might know where it was.
Alan was a well-known businessman in Fredericton. He and his twin brother, Andy, owned Andal Corporation, which included multiple commercial real estate properties throughout New Brunswick. Alan’s entrepreneurial spirit started at a young age, with paper deliveries, mowing lawns, landscaping, snow removal, to owning 52 hot dog carts in N.B.,N.S. and P.E.I.. Alan and Andy started manufacturing 5 different models of the carts in Mexico City and shipping them around the world. Eventually, they expanded into developing their commercial real estate portfolio.
Alan and Andy believed deeply in giving back to the community and made numerous contributions over the years. Among the causes closest to their hearts were the YMCA and the Abony Family Tennis Center, both of which benefited from their generous support and commitment to community development.
Alan passed on his entrepreneurial skills to his son, Alex, and was a wonderful mentor to him.
A celebration of Alan’s life will be held at Kingswood Lodge, located at 31 Kingswood Park, on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the SPCA or to a charity of your choice in Alan’s memory.
