To my dearest sister-in-law Diane,
My heart is heavy with sadness knowing you’re no longer here with us.
When I think of you, I remember the vibrant, passionate woman you were. I always admired the way you spoke—with such conviction—and the deep love you had for your craft, ballet. Your dedication was inspiring.
We were truly blessed to have you as part of our family. The love you and Craig shared was something beautiful, even though it was heartbreakingly cut short.
Kelly, Jules, and I feel so grateful that we were able to spend time with you in your final days. You faced your illness with such grace, courage, and dignity—it was nothing short of extraordinary.
You will be missed always, but your spirit will live on in our hearts.
With love always,
Whitney

I spent many wonderful years, dancing beside Dianne during the prime of our lives. While with our very special small group Anna Wyman Dance Theater, we performed throughout Canada, Europe, India, China, Mexico, and New York State. 11 weeks in Europe, traveling in a bus. It was great fun and an honor creating beautiful movement with dynamic Dianne, all those years ago.

I attended Reynolds HighSchool with Dianne and lived around the corner from her family at that time. I was kept abreast of her dance career from the high school gang, although I, too, left Victoria decades ago. I am sorry I did not stop in on one of my many trips through NB, and especially sorry that her high school friends did not get to visit her in beautiful NB. Although we were not extremely close, Dianne and I were part of “the same gang” in the 70’s. I’m sure she will be missed by the dance community in Fredricton, and my condolences go out to her husband.

I met Dianne over 20 years ago. At that time she was the director of Dance Fredericton. Shortly after, Dianne set out to establish Artemis Dance at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. My children started dancing with Dianne at the tender age of four and my daughter continued right up until she retired. I loved watching my daughter grow and become such a beautiful dancer under Dianne’s professional instruction. Dianne was an inspiration to my children and had a unique gift of leading every child into a magical world of creative movement. Her love of Dance and her ability to inspire others was the leading force behind Artemis Dance. She brought quality and class to every single performance. I told Dianne a few years ago that I was her biggest fan from the sidelines.
From the bottom of my heart, I send my sincere condolences to Craig and family. Dianne, thank you for pouring your heart and soul into our community through Dance and for being a beautiful human being. You were the finest. Your Dance will live on. I truly hope someone out there will re-create your pieces. Maybe I will have to take that on one day. Love you, Sue Lambropoulos

I attended Sacred Heart grade school with Dianne in Victoria. She was a bit older and I didn't know her well. But I remember watching her dance! She would have been about 11, and obviously was very serious about what she was doing. I was so pleased to read that dancing became her life's vocation and passion. Sincere sympathy to her family and friends.

Stepping slippers into Ms. Garrett’s studio was one of the greatest blessings of my life. She was not just a ballet teacher to me but an intrinsic part of my youth.
An outstanding dancer and instructor, it was almost magical to be in her presence, certainly as a child, but that feeling carried onto adulthood, too. However, dance was not all she taught; more importantly, she taught confidence, respect, kindness, perseverance, work ethic, etc. In fact, one of the best things she ever said to me was not dance related in the slightest, she told me she cherished all the times I had made her laugh over the years. A laugh from her was the best kind of compliment. The positive impact she had on so many peoples lives is immeasurable; I am better off having had her in mine.
Sending my condolences to Craig and Ms. Garrett’s family, friends and dancers

Dianne was such a force. I consider myself so incredibly lucky to have had a woman like her to look up to during my formative years. She taught me so much more than just ballet; she taught me the importance of striving for excellence and working hard. Nothing would make my week more than a compliment received from Ms. Garrett during a class. I have so much gratitude for everything she taught me, and I feel so lucky to have known her and been a part of her studio. My condolences to Craig and her family.

Dianne, or Ms Garrett as I knew her, truly shaped who I am today. She taught me so much more than ballet; she helped me become the resilient, confident, hardworking, and motivated young woman that I am today. Ms Garrett always has been and always will be one of the most influential women in my life. Ms Garrett and Artemis Dance Studio facilitated so many of my lifelong friendships; myself and my friends from Artemis will always hold Ms Garrett close to our hearts and take pride in sharing our memories of Ms Garrett and our time at her studio. Condolences to Craig and family.

Through Artemis, Dianne played a massive role in The Charlotte Street Arts Centre becoming a home while I was in Fredericton. She was fiercely kind and passionate about her work, sharing her knowledge and love of life with everyone she met. I learned so much and carry many of her teachings with me. I am so grateful our paths crossed. My deepest condolences to Craig and her family.

I am so saddened to hear of this loss. My children took many ballet classes with Dianne, and were especially enchanted by her in the preschool classes where Dianne’s extraordinary talents as an early childhood educator gave dancers an imaginative and whimsical experience to delight in and learn from each week. She will be remembered fondly.

Dianne was always generous and kind to me when I would return home, looking for a refuge in the studio. She was a guiding light for so many young dancers in Fredericton. She will surely be missed.

Dianne was more than a mentor, she was family for the dancers at Artemis. Her passion for dance and her studio was inspiring. My sister Sophia was amongst the first dancers to register at Artemis, and we danced there until we graduated high school. I owe my love and dedication to dance to Dianne, and she has truly positively impacted my life. Thinking of her loved ones during these times. We will miss her dearly.

Dianne was a talented ballet instructor whose grace, discipline, and passion for dance shaped not only the skills but the character of my daughters, Olivia and Hilary. Dianne and Dance Artemis were a major part of our lives for the better part of 14 years- at times it felt like we lived at the studio. Her encouragement and belief inspired my daughters to reach higher than they thought possible, both on and off stage. She gave them confidence, artistry and perseverance- skills that they will use throughout their lives.
My deepest condolences to Craig and her family.

To say that our home is heartbroken with this news is an understatement. Dianne was such a presence in Kaitlyn and Hailey’s life. The love of dance determination, resilience and passion she taught them will never be forgotten. You can see her influence in so may of the things they do but especially when the are dancing on stage. We will be forever grateful for her. Our deepest condolences to her family.
