Dear Pat, Colin and Eddie, I am literally sitting here writing this with tears in my eyes as I am so very sad to hear of your loss of George. So many memories keep flooding back from over the years of knowing both him and your family. So many Colin and Eddie stories and stories from Renforth. Knowing the Kilburns has greatly enriched my life. Folks like George are what makes living in New Brunswick so very special. Please accept deepest sympathy. Sincerely, Hank

George Kilburn was as solid as a rock in so many ways. He was a tremendous multi sport athlete and was a keystone in the foundation of the Loyalists Rugby Club both on and off the field. . His father Robin, before him, was also a stalwart in the sport back in the ‘40’s,, as were all of his brothers in 60’s and 70’s.. Fittingly his son Colin picked up the mantle and passed it on to his son Paxton, who now proudly wears the Red, White and Blue! I have so many glowing memories of George both as a Loyalist teammate and as an opponent when I played with the first wave of UNB Ironmen. He was a great all round player on the Rugby pitch but his forte had to be tackling. I can remember viividly UNB playing the Loyalists at Raceway field; during my college days I was an Ironman in the fall and a Loyalist in the spring and summer. I had made a break at the Loyalists’ 22 metre line and was charging, knees high, toward the goal line with one man to beat - George Kilburn! George and I were mates and I knew he was a sure tackle, so I threw caution to the wind and resolved to run right through him, right over him! As was his way George took me low, around the ankles, and I went down hard on the 5 metre line with a thump and he retrieved the ball. Malcolm MacAfee would say I went down “like a tird from a tall cow’s ass”! Rest in Peace George! A life well lived! With deepest respect! Peter Pacey
