Obituary of George Kilburn
It is with sadness that the family of George Robin Hood Kilburn announces his passing on September 20, 2025, in Fredericton, NB, at the age of 81. Born in Fredericton on April 28, 1944, to Robin and Nina Kilburn, George was the beloved husband of Patricia (McQueen) Kilburn for over 50 years. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Colin (Kalie Hatt-Kilburn) and Eddie (Heather Kilburn), and by his treasured grandchildren, Paxton, Ben, Elizabeth, and Grace. George also leaves behind his brothers, Clark (Bonnie and family) and Chris (Geri and family) as well as the families of his predeceased siblings Sandra, Nancy and Glen.
George was an excellent athlete in his youth and a lifelong sports enthusiast. Whether at a hockey rink, on a court, in a pool or beside a rugby pitch, his love for the game was unmistakable. He took great joy in watching his sons, nephews and grandchildren carry on the tradition of stepping onto the ice or the same pitch where he once proudly played as one of the earliest members of the Fredericton Loyalists Rugby Club.
Beyond sports, George’s love of music and books filled his days, and his heart was always at Magaguadavic Lake, where he spent his favourite days surrounded by his extended family. Those who knew him will remember his strength, his loyalty, and his steadfast presence in the lives of those he loved.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Friday, September 26, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Michael Goodfellow. A livestream of the service will be available at the following link: https://vimeo.com/event/5407083
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Loyalists Legends Legacy Fund so that future generations can have the opportunity to play one of the sports he loved so much.
