I am so very sorry for your loss. I first met Greg in Halifax which was my first posting. Greg was one of a kind. I remember him working the release desk at Stad and he had a officer at his desk who was releasing, and at the time smoking was still allowed in the buildings. The officer asked Greg if he could smoke and Greg, in his no nonsense way said, hell sir I don't care if you catch on fire. I met Greg many times again over my career and beyond and he was always kind, funny, and real. He will be missed.
