Obituary of Greg Foster
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Gregory “Greg” Foster at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on Friday, September 19, 2025.
Greg was raised by Howe and Jean Dickie, and grew up in Waterville, Nova Scotia. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Cathy Foster, in March 2024.
He is survived by his son, Sean (Amanda) Foster of Elmsdale, Nova Scotia, and their children, Anna, and Will, as well as his son, Derek (Sarah) Foster of Fredericton, New Brunswick, and their children, Lennon, Piper and Willow. Greg was extremely proud of his sons and grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in law, as well as several nieces, and nephews.
Greg joined the military when he was 21 years old, and saw postings to Gagetown, New Brunswick; Masset, British Colombia; Petawawa, Ontario; Wainwright, Alberta; Halifax and Shearwater, Nova Scotia. He did peacekeeping tours in Cyprus and the Golan Heights. He retired to Oromocto, New Brunswick, and enjoyed spending time with Cathy in Florida for the winters.
Greg enjoyed many sports, including baseball, soccer, curling, bowling, darts, and golf. He had a wonderful sense of humour and never met a stranger. Everywhere he went, Greg managed to have conversations with people he never met before.
At his request, there will be no services. Interment will follow at a later date with immediate family. Any donations in Greg’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
