Obituary of Dennis Moore

Dennis A. Moore “slipped the surly bonds of earth” on October 6, 2025 at the age of 96. Born May 4, 1929, Dennis was the son of the late Ansel and Annie (O’Leary) Moore. He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Joan (Smith); son, Leary; and daughter-in-law, Linda Belyea.

Dennis is survived by sons, Terry and Stephen (Annette); grandchildren, Natalie (Gilles), Dwayne (Karen), Alyson (Iain), and Karen (Nick). He is also survived by great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, brothers, Wayne (Carol) and Leo (Alice), and many nieces and nephews.

Dennis had two careers. The first was with NBTel, however, he retired early to pursue his true love, commercial aviation. As an instructor, and later CFI and Designated Flight Test Examiner with the Fredericton Flying Club, he made pilots of many of Fredericton’s citizens, some of whom moved on to careers in aviation also. Dennis was also actively involved in Amateur Radio for 75 years as VE1TU.

Dennis and Joan were members of the “Robertson Point” community, where they built a summer cottage and enjoyed life “at the lake” for over 50 years.

There will be no visitation at his request. A private family service will take place. For those who wish, donations in Dennis’ memory may be made to the Arthritis Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Soar on Dad. You finally have your wings!
