Obituary of Donna Kennedy
On Saturday, October 11, we lost our Mother following an almost 2 year valiant battle with cancer. She was a fighter to the very end, never complaining, and gaining the admiration and love of all of her palliative care providers at the DECH.
Donna Lynn (Allen) Kennedy was born in Fredericton, NB, on July 11, 1956, to Ruth (Caldwell) and the late Ronald Allen. She is survived by her two sons, Jared Kennedy (Alexa) and Zachary Kennedy (Monica), and their father, Larry Kennedy, as well as special friend, Dan Maston. Survived also by two sisters, Nancy Durelle (Brian) and Brenda Watson (Richard); one brother, Brian Allen (Susan). She also leaves behind her five grandchildren, Harper, Annabelle, Logan, Sadie, and Holden, several nieces and nephews, and her dear friend, Laura Miller. In addition to her father, Ronald, Donna was predeceased by her stepfather, Gilbert “Gib” Whittaker.
After graduating from the University of New Brunswick, Mom spent most of her career working in Information Technology for the Province of New Brunswick. After her retirement from New Brunswick Community College, she looked forward to relaxing and enjoying family at her happy place, the cottage on Lake George.
Thank you to all the nurses and doctors who helped our Mom as she struggled with cancer, especially the staff of the Extra-Mural program, DECH Oncology Unit, and Palliative Care. We will always be so thankful for their exceptional, loving care. The support our family has received from friends, and the help Mom received from family, was above and beyond. A special thank you to Pastor Karl Csaszar and the congregation of Skyline Acres Baptist Church for visits and prayers.
We will miss you forever Mom, but we know you will guide us all through this time, and the rest of our lives. We love you.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam’s Funeral Home. A memorial gathering will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Words of Remembrance will begin at 2:30 pm. A private family interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery at a later time.
