Obituary of Lera Grace Beers
It is with sadness that the family of Lera Grace Beers announces her passing in Fredericton on October 21, 2025, less than one month after her 86th birthday. Born in Barnettville, Northumberland County, New Brunswick on the South West Branch of the Miramichi River, she was proud of her roots. Her late parents were Claude Alexander and Maude Elizabeth (Jardine) Warren who had a family of thirteen: Lera’s six brothers and six sisters, with Lera in the middle. In 1965, she married Lionel “Wayne” Beers and they were blessed to have had 60 years together.
Lera is survived by her husband, Wayne and their children, Mark (Kim) of Fredericton, and Andrew (Alison) of Eastport, Maine. Lera was a very proud grand ma of Madeline “Maddie” and Wyatt. She will be missed by her sisters, Olive (Burpee), Lynn, and Carrie (Roger); her brothers, John, Robert (Faith), and Eugene (Joyce); brother-in-law, George, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lera was predeceased by her infant son, Robert; parents-in-law, Lionel and Jennie Beers; sisters, Lucy, Mary, and Edna; brothers, Quentin, Glen, & Keith; nephews, Jim and Jay; and niece, Sarah.
Graduating from Blackville School and Harkins Academy, Lera worked as a secretary at T. Eaton Co, Ontario Hydro, Brunswick Street Baptist Church, Fredericton area schools, The Learning Center, and District Board Office.
As a loving wife and mother, she was devoted to her family, her Christian faith and her church family at Brunswick Street Baptist Church. These were her rock and the foundation of her life. Attending weekly services, she served on various church committees and the Women’s Missionary Society. She found great joy and comfort in the gospel message, and her many friends.
The family would like to thank all the doctors of Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital, St. John Regional Hospital, the staff, nurses and doctors at Hospice House Fredericton, as well as Pastors and Care Providers for their time and compassion.
A funeral service will be held at Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00 am. Immediately following the service, a time of visitation and reflection will take place in the Church Gymnasium. For those unable to attend the service, a livestream will be available through the Brunswick Street Baptist Church link:https://www.youtube.com/live/fCho3yLAHOc Interment will take place following the reception at 3:00 pm at the Faith Baptist Church Cemetery, New Maryland, NB.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lera’s name made to ShareWord Global (formerly The Gideons), Brunswick Street Baptist Building Fund, or Hospice House Fredericton, would be appreciated.
