I had the privilege of working with Jack at NB Power. His ability to gently calm people down with a joke or a smile was a trait I tried to follow. It was an honour and privilege to laugh with him..

In my younger years, when my mother and father lived in Oromocto, my now wife and I would visit and drop in to see Uncle Jack and Aunt Betty. When my parents moved back to Chatham, these visits stopped.
I was aware of the annual hunting trip that my father had with his older brother Jack and I eventually summoned the courage to ask to be allowed to attend as well. In 1990, I joined the group and spent an unforgettable week in the woods with family. Over the next twenty five years, the number of people on the trip changed, as did the location, with the last dozen years being spent at Jackie's camp. Regardless of the number of people who were present during the hunting trips, one constant remained, memories that will last a lifetime. We always ate well, enjoyed each other's company, and from time to time we got a deer.
Over the last several years going to the camp I saw Uncle Jack face health issues. During this time I saw a man who refused to give in. His inner strength and determination allowed him to do the the things he loved long after many in the same situation would have given up. Reconnecting with Uncle Jack for these hunting trips resulted in friendship and a strong sense of respect. While he is no longer with us, he will not be forgotten. I would like to offer condolences to all of his family and to tell you I am grateful to have known him.
