Obituary of Elaine Hamilton
With broken hearts the family of Sharon Elaine Hamilton announce her passing at the Dr Everett Chalmer’s Hospital (DECH) in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on November 27, 2025. Born on May 3, 1951, Elaine was the daughter of the late Irvine and Marguerite (Williams) McKay.
Elaine worked for the provincial government for many years, eventually retiring form her post with the Province of New Brunswick’s Department of Public Safety. Once retired, she had the time to dote on her grandchildren. More than anything, she was devoted to her family. She treasured every visit, and got so much joy from spoiling the grandkids!
Elaine will be missed by her beloved daughter, Amanda (Matthew); her adored grandchildren, Ashlyn, Rennick, and Blake; her cherished sisters, Addie, Bonny (Alton), and Vera; her dear friends, Connie, Sharon, and Toni; her “grand-dog” Maddie, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her devoted husband of 48 years, Winston Gregory “Greg” Hamilton, her infant son, Andrew, and her brother, Gordon McKay.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff, doctors, and nurses of the Intensive Care Unit at the DECH, especially Dr. Hadley and Dr. Pulchan, for their kindness, care, and support through this difficult time.
A visitation will take place at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Monday, December 1, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church (Parish) Church on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Wandlyn Snelgrove officiating. Interment will take place at the St Peter’s Anglican Cemetery in the spring. For those unable to attend the service, a live stream is available at the following link: https//vimeo.com/event/5558132
