Obituary of Sharon Gail (Finnie) Nevers

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Sharon Gail (Finnie) Nevers on December 1st, 2025 at Hospice Fredericton. Born on March 17th, 1946, she was the third of five daughters born to the late Otis and Lillian (Vesey) Finnie.

Sharon will be missed by her devoted husband of 44 years, Eric; beloved sons, Jason (Joanna), Julian, and Joshua; adored grandchildren, Summer and Taya; cherished sisters, Donna (Henry), Sylvia, Cheryl, and Jennie (Brian); dear friends, Diane, Barb, and Loretta, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her father-in-law, Donald, and brothers-in-law, David, Steve, and Howard.

Sharon was an exceptional student with humble beginnings in a one room schoolhouse in Mohannes, New Brunswick. She would go on to graduate from St. Stephen High School, after which she attended NB Teacher’s College and UNB where she received a Bachelor of Teaching Degree and a Bachelor of Education Degree respectively.

She taught school for many years throughout New Brunswick, starting in Charlotte County, one year in Saint John, and ultimately in Fredericton, primarily at Priestman Street Elementary School for over 30 years.  As a teacher, she taught more than lessons; she gave a part of her heart to her students and inspired them to be better.  She had an unwavering commitment to her students and colleagues.

Following her retirement in 2000, Sharon enjoyed family gatherings, long walks with her husband Eric and meeting friends for coffee and conversation. She cared for her family members and saw the beauty in small gestures of friendship. Her spirit lives on in heartfelt stories and memories.

Sharon’s life was a blessing and her memory is a treasure.

A visitation will take place on Friday, December 5th, 2025 at McAdam’s Funeral Home from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6th, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the J.A, McAdam Memorial Chapel with Rev. Greg Geldart presiding. Interment will take place at the Kingsclear Baptist Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sharon’s name made to Hospice Fredericton would be appreciated by the family.
