John and Alison, Logan, Jasmin and Trent - my heart goes out to you. You have lost two wonderful people in your lives within such a short time, and that the loss of these loved ones will always be with you. Know that you were loved by them, and that you brought happiness and joy into their lives.
John Astle was a force to be reckoned with, and although my interactions with him were intermittent and of short duration even over the course of over 40 years, he always made a huge impression on me. He was kind, he was affable, and his intellect was beyond description. The world has lost a great man.
Know that he is at peace, and with his beloved wife, Joyce. And always remember that he loved you to to the moon and back. Nargis Kheraj

I first met John in 1984 when he was on the Council of the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants and I was just starting as the new Executive Director of the Institute - and very wet behind the ears. John was a gentleman and a true professional, I always enjoyed my discussions and encounters with him. He also signed my CA certificate in 1979 when I first qualified! I'm very glad to have that autograph. Thanks very much for your contribution to the profession and your guidance in those years. My sincere condolences to the family.
