Obituary of Jacques Lucien Paquin
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Jacques Lucien Paquin on December 24, 2025, at the age of 93, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Jacques was the son of Lucien Paquin and Marguerite Maheux, born on October 20, 1932 in Huberdeau, Québec. The seventh of nine children, he is survived by his brother, Michel.
Following high school graduation and three years of scientific studies at college, Jacques was employed by the Canadian National Railway. It was when he was posted in Tracadie, New Brunswick as station manager/telegraphist that he met and married Bernadette Worrall and where four of his children, Lorraine (Trevor), Evelyn (Lloyd), Yvon (Kelly) and Carole (Terry), were born. He entered his second career in 1964 at The New Brunswick Electric Power Commission in Fredericton, where Cynthia was born. He retired in 1992 after 28 years of service. Jacques leaves behind four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
During his adult life, Jacques’ hobbies were hunting, fishing, golfing and skiing. At the age of 86, he was presented with a lifetime pass at Crabbe Mountain for being the club’s oldest skier. Once retired, Jacques had more time for walking and shared this passion with his very special friend, Foëkje. He also became an avid bridge player. Jacques was well-travelled. As well as extensive forays across Canada and into the United States, some of the highlights of his travel destinations include Australia and Eastern Europe. He also enjoyed a Hawaiian and an Alaskan cruise.
A memorial will be held at a date to be specified later. All arrangements will be made by McAdam’s Funeral Home in Fredericton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Fredericton or a charity of your choice. To leave a message of condolence, please visit www.mcadamsfh.com.
