Obituary of Paul Ross Howell
It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Ross Howell announces his passing on December 21st, 2025. Born on September 14th, 1960, in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Herbert Henry and Frances Louise (Hood) Howell, and beloved husband of the late Carol “Joy” (Lewis) Howell.
Some of Paul’s favourite hobbies were fishing, snowmobiling, motorbiking and spending time with friends. When he was home, Paul would often be found sitting by the fireplace relaxing, watching TV and playing sudoku puzzles. Paul started his own logging business at 18, and continued until he passed. It was never a dull moment with him.
Paul also had a passion for helping those who needed it. If you asked for help, Paul would drop everything to lend a hand. He was a people person. The greatest joy in his life were his precious grandchildren. He would always take the opportunity to hang out, and spoil them. Grampie time were the highlights of his life.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Timothy Howell (Stacey), and Laura Richardson (Seth); grandchildren, who were the lights of his world, Everly Howell, Avery Richardson, and Quincy Howell; siblings, Beth Grass, Wendy Hood, Lorna Donahue (Leon), Charles Howell (Susan), Donna Newton (Russ), and Robert Howell (Elaine); mother-in-law, Ferne Lewis; sister-in-law, Jane Howell; brother-in-law, Roger Lewis, as well as many extended family members.
In addition to his parents and spouse, Paul is reunited with his brother, Keith Howell; father-in-law, James “Jim” Lewis, as well as his brothers-in-law, Larry Grass, and Alton Hood.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 29th, 2025, from 6 – 8 pm, at McAdam's Funeral Home in Fredericton, NB. A funeral service will be held at Smythe Street Church on Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, at 2 pm. The service will be livestreamed and can be watched at the following link, www.ssc.church/howell. Interment will take place at the Kingsclear Baptist Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to Prison Christian Ministries, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
