Obituary of Christine Taylor
The family of Christine Grace Taylor announces her passing on January 4, 2026, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton after a struggle with Lewey Body Dementia. She was born in Halifax, NS, in 1946, to Clifford Roy and Marguerite (Graves) Peck. After attending vocational school and obtaining her LPN designation at the Childrens Hospital in Halifax, she began working in 1967 as the medical secretary to three specialists in Halifax.
In 1968, while visiting Helen Graves in Dartmouth, whom the Taylor family had maintained contact with since first meeting them while camping at Stanhope in the PEI National Park in the 1950’s, Dennis inquired of one of the other campers from that time. Helen invited that other camper, her niece, up to her home and Dennis and Chris re-met. Chris would later invite Dennis to the family cottage on Conrod Lake and in 1970 she and Dennis were married in Dartmouth.
When first living as newlyweds on PEI, she worked as the secretary in the Physical Education Department at UPEI until their first child was born. While the children were young she stayed home and raised the million dollar family, Krista and Steven. After the children started attending high school in Fredericton and were old enough to look after themselves, she again returned to a doctor’s office, exercising her professional skills in a medical office for two surgeons and then a family doctor. Upon a second move west to Calgary in 1998, she finally retired from working outside the home, and took up a new hobby, quilting. With love and a perfectionist’s dedication she made quilts for many family members.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Charlottetown and Brunswick Street Baptist Church in Fredericton and used her voice to lift praise to God through her participation in the choirs and as a soloist for many years.
She is survived by Dennis, her husband of 55 years; daughter, Krista Sifton (Andrew); son, Steven (Meredith Cooper); brothers, Darryl and Clifford; sister, Deborah Zwicker (Barry); and grandchildren, Connor, Kathryn, and Michael Sifton, and Jack and Aidan Taylor; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; sister-in-law, Cathy Peck; brother-in-law, Gregory Taylor; and nephew, Allan Taylor.
Per her wishes there will be neither funeral nor visitation. Cremation has taken place. For those who wish, donations in Christine's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
