Obituary of Pauline Margaret Parks
It is with great sadness the family of Pauline Margaret (Hansen) Parks announces her peaceful passing on January 6, 2026, at Thomas Hall, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 101.
Pauline (Polly) was born in Newcastle, New Brunswick on September 20, 1924, the daughter of the late Margaret (McGowan) and Asbjorn Hansen. Pauline was married to her loving husband, Arthur Parks, for 34 years, until his passing in 1984. He was deeply missed throughout her life.
Pauline is survived by loving daughters, Carol Scott (Stephen) and Paula Hamill (Alfred); grandchildren, Christina Scott Curry, Kimberley Wright (Rob), Stephanie Chase, Nicholas Hamill, Angela Hamill (Morgan MacGregor), and Crystal Balgobin (Devan); as well as 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. One of eight children, Pauline is also survived by a brother, Asbjorn Hansen.
Pauline was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was deeply devoted to her family. She was the quiet matriarch of her family; she demonstrated strength and resilience and has left a lasting place in the hearts of her family. Many happy family gatherings and holiday meals were shared at Pauline’s home. Especially cherished are memories of Saturday afternoons spent at Grammy’s, catching up on the week’s events and enjoying tea together.
Pauline was very artistic, expressing her creativity through oil painting, with many of her paintings depicting landscapes and portraits of family members. She also had a true green thumb, tending flower gardens that were always beautiful and vibrant. With a keen eye for quality and detail, she often made her own clothing, preferring her own creations to anything available in stores. Pauline lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of care and creativity.
The family would like to thank Eden’s Retirement Villa for the many years of compassionate care, as well as the staff at Thomas Hall, where Pauline lived for her final year, for their kindness, care, and attention.
A family graveside service will be held in the spring. Donations in Pauline’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
