Obituary of See Hean Quek
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of See Hean Quek, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.
See Hean was born on August 17, 1957, to Tee Puat Quek and Kim Lan Lim in Malacca, Malaysia. He grew up in Malacca and later pursued his studies abroad, graduating from University of East London in the United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Land Surveying Science. He furthered his education at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), completing a Master of Science in Engineering in Survey Engineering.
Over a career spanning more than four decades, See Hean was at the forefront of technological innovation, working with clients across Canada as well as internationally. His work encompassed project management, systems and software development, IT planning and consulting, and included leadership roles at UNB, CARIS, CGI, Accreon, and iTacit.
See Hean was known for his intellect, kindness, and humour. Throughout his life, he carried a constant curiosity about the world, especially technology and current events. He took great joy in his hobbies, including boating, photography, and gardening and he always made time for his family.
See Hean is survived by his loving wife, Lup Cheng; his son, Jonathan; and his daughter, Patricia (Keenan Lamb), along with his siblings, See Seng Quek (Sandy), See Tiat Quek (Rosana), See Yeng Quek (Lori), Ann Quek-Hasenauer (Ludger), and Janet Quek (P.S. Gan). His love, wisdom, and presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m., with a few words shared at 3:00 p.m.
