Obituary of Nick DiCarlo

Nicholas “Nick” Domenic DiCarlo was born on October 29, 1959, in Minto and raised in Chipman, New Brunswick. He passed away at the age of 66, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Nick was the proud and devoted husband of his beloved wife, Rita DiCarlo, whom he married in 1988. They built a life together in Fredericton. He was a deeply loving father to his children, Lucas DiCarlo (Maria) and Marissa DiCarlo (Robert), and found his greatest joy when surrounded by family; whether gathered around the table, sharing a meal, or simply spending time together. Nick is also survived by his sister, Joanne McNeill (David), and his nephews, Lonnie and Lance. He was predeceased by his parents, Murray and Verna DiCarlo.

As a teenager, Nick worked at DiCarlo’s Home Hardware, in Chipman, where he learned the enduring values of hard work, responsibility, and service to the community. He went on to attend St. Thomas University, graduating in 1981. Driven by a lifelong dream, he later pursued law, earning his degree from University of New Brunswick Law School in 1986. Nick practiced law for 37 years, earning deep respect for his professionalism, dedication, and genuine care for his clients.

Nick was proud of his Italian heritage and had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. He loved music, golf, travelling, family dinners, and going for drives. A devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he brought enthusiasm and loyalty to everything he loved. Above all, Nick will be remembered as kind, generous, hardworking, and a wonderful listener whose presence made his loved ones feel seen and valued.

Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 12 pm - 2 pm with a memorial service beginning in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm. Fr. John Jennings will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nick’s memory may be made to Hospice Fredericton.
