Obituary of Violet Regina Collett

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Violet Regina Collett after a lengthy but brave battle with cancer. Violet passed away peacefully at Hospice House on January 25th, 2026, surrounded by family and close friends.

Violet was born in Meteghan, NS on March 28th, 1943, to Louis and Marie Anne (Comeau) Sullivan. She later moved to Fredericton, NB where she married John (Jack) Collett and raised their three daughters. Violet was blessed to have made many close friends over the years. She never missed an opportunity to join in social events, and gave generously of her time to help plan activities. She enjoyed life to the fullest, and divided her time between Princess Park in Grand Lake, Hunter’s Run in Zephyrhills Florida, and their home at Station House in Fredericton. She enjoyed travelling with her husband, Jack, spending time with family and friends. She loved her social hours, bingo nights, shopping, attending countless events, special time with her Golden Girls, and visits from the special dogs in her life, who always got a little treat.

The family would like to thank everyone for the overwhelmingly generous support since her diagnosis, from the home visits, lunches with friends, generous food drop-offs at their home, cards, flowers, little gifts and spiritual guidance. There are never enough words to describe the gratitude she felt to have so many special people surrounding her this last year; she felt truly loved.

Violet is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jack Collett; daughters, Shelley Lowe (Robert), Stacey Collett, and Amy Donovan (Todd). She is also survived by her brother, Ralph Sullivan of NS; grandchildren, Cole Donovan, Emily Lawson, Meghan Lowe, Paige Lowe, Dawson Donovan as well as many nephews, nieces and friends that became family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Marie Ann Sullivan; brother, Victor Sullivan; sisters, Eunice (Sullivan) Darbouze and Doris (Sullivan) Trefry; and grandson, Logan Donovan.

A special thank you goes out to her Oncology team, the staff at the DECH, the emergency room, palliative, 4NE, and her paramedics. Words will never begin to describe the exceptional care and dignity she received at Hospice House, and the love they showed her family and friends in her final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held on her birthday, March 28th, 2026 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at 149 Station Road, Fredericton, NB.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners, and there will be a donation box set up for Hospice House at the Celebration of Life. A private burial service will take place this summer at the cemetery.
