Obituary of Rosa Marie McArthur
The family of Rosa Marie McArthur sadly announces she passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, with her family by her side. She was comfortable and surrounded by love in her final moments.
Born on January 26, 1934 in Inverness, Nova Scotia, mom was known throughout her life for her incredible work ethic, often holding two jobs at once to help support her family. She was a talented baker and cake decorator, well known in the community for her beautiful wedding cakes and the pride she took in every order. In her free time, mom enjoyed playing bingo with her bingo buddies and watching her favourite action movies – Chuck Norris was her man, and the louder the TV the better. She was also a lifelong Toronto Blue Jays fan. When the Jays were playing on the west coast, she would nap during the day just so she could stay up late and not miss a single play.
Her greatest joy was her family. She devoted her life, time, and energy to helping raise her four boys, making countless sacrifices so they could thrive. Her generosity, strength, and unconditional love were constant in their lives.
After Fred, her husband of 53 years, passed away in 2009, mom moved from her hometown of Stellarton, NS, to Fredericton, NB, where she lived with her son Dave, daughter-in-law Kristal, son Bruce, and grandson Weston. Their home became her home, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Rosa is survived by her sons, Wayne (Jaye) of Stellarton, NS, Bruce, of Fredericton, NB, and Dave (Kristal) of Fredericton, NB; daughter-in-law, Mary McArthur of Bradford, ON, and her brother, Robert Marcipont (Margaret) of Westville, NS. She further leaves behind her grandchildren, Weston (Morgan), Ricky (Cathy), Tommy (Monica), Mary-Jane (Nat), Amanda, and Tyler; step-grandchildren, Matthew (Twyla), Ashley (Brian), and Kelsey (Mike); 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, August and Georgina Marcipont, and her husband Fred, she was predeceased by her son, Fred Jr.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the management and staff of Shannex, Thomas Hall in Fredericton for their exceptional care over the past eight years, and for the kindness and comfort they provided to mom in her final moments.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. She will be laid to rest this summer in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Cemetery in her home community of Stellarton, NS, where family and friends will gather to honour her life. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Fredericton SPCA or the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
Her memory will remain a source of comfort, pride, and love to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
