Obituary of Ronald Gérard LeBreton

Ronald Gérard LeBreton décédé le 6 mars 2026. Né à Dalhousie NB le 4 juillet 1939, il était l’ainé de la grande famille de 9 enfants de Gérard Le Breton et d’Ella Chamberlain: Claudette, Pauline, Clarice, Carmelle, Reno, Claude, Eric, et Roger.

Époux de Fernande Simard LeBreton, et père de Nathalie (Hoising ChanTang) et Serge André (Julie Goyette). Ses quatre petits–enfants, Rémi et Raphaël ChanTang ainsi que Delphine et Philippe LeBreton le comblaient de fierté et de bonheur.

Débordant d’énergie et de talents, Ronald a consacré ses premières années d’enseignement au nord de Campbellton et ensuite au nord du Québec. Il a enrichi l’éducation de ses élèves en les intégrants dans une chorale, en organisant des pièces de théâtre et des samedis de sports. Son violon et sa guitare agrémentaient souvent ses activités.

Son désir de parfaire son éducation l’a incité à retourner aux études à l’Université de Moncton où encore une fois, il s’impliqua dans une multitude d’activités dont celle de président des étudiants.  Il fut ensuite approché pour devenir le premier directeur général de L’AEFNB (Association des enseignants francophone du N.B.), qu’il dirigea pendant 35 ans avec entrain et énergie.

Pour Ronald, la retraire ne fut pas synonyme de repos.  Plusieurs associations l’ont incité à participer au bien-être de la société. Ce qu’il accepta tout en poursuivant ses nombreux passe-temps personnels tels que la fabrication de meubles pour ses enfants et amis.

La famille tient à remercier sincèrement toutes les personnes qui leur témoignent leur soutien et leurs pensées en ces moments difficiles.

Conformément aux souhaits de Ronald, il n’y aura pas de cérémonie. Comme Ronald était passionné par l’éducation et la musique, des dons commémoratifs peuvent être faits à Sistema NB, ou pour ceux qui le souhaitent, à la Société canadienne de l’Alzheimer ou à l’Institut de recherche sur le cancer.

Que son âme repose en paix.

Ronald Gérard LeBreton passed away on March 6, 2026. Born in Dalhousie, NB, on July 4, 1939, he was the eldest of a large family of nine children of Gérard LeBreton and Ella Chamberlain: Claudette, Pauline, Clarice, Carmelle, Reno, Claude, Eric, and Roger.

He was the husband of Fernande Simard LeBreton, and the father of Nathalie (Hoising Chan Tang) and Serge André (Julie Goyette). His four grandchildren, Rémi and Raphaël Chan Tang, as well as Delphine and Philippe LeBreton, filled him with pride and happiness.

Overflowing with energy and talent, Ronald devoted his early years of teaching north of Campbellton and later in northern Quebec. He enriched the education of his students by involving them in a choir, organizing theatre productions, and hosting Saturday sports activities. His violin and guitar often added to these activities.

His desire to further his education led him to return to studies at the Université de Moncton, where once again he became involved in numerous activities, including serving as president of the student body. He was later approached to become the first Executive Director of the AEFNB (Association des enseignants francophones du N.-B.), which he led with enthusiasm and energy for 35 years.

For Ronald, retirement did not mean rest. Several organizations encouraged him to continue contributing to the well-being of society. He gladly accepted while also pursuing many personal hobbies, such as making furniture for his children and friends.

The family sincerely thanks all those who have shown them support and shared their thoughts during these difficult times.

In keeping with Ronald’s wishes, there will be no services. Since Ronald was passionate about education and music, memorial donations may be made to Sistema NB, or for those who wish, to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society or to the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute.
