Obituary of Anthony Stanley Richardson
It is with broken hearts that the family announces the passing of Anthony Stanley “Tony” Richardson at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital on March 6th, 2026. Born on August 18th, 1969, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, he was the son of Merva (Amos) Richardson and the late Stanley Richardson.
Tony was a well-respected Fredericton lawyer who spent his entire twenty-five year career with McInnes Cooper. Tony made a lasting contribution to the firm and the legal community through his leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to his clients and colleagues. He was a former Office Lead Partner for the Fredericton office and served two terms as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. Tony’s sharp mind and problem solving allowed him to become a leading insolvency lawyer in Atlantic Canada, sought after across the region for this knowledge and practical approach. Tony’s impact will be most missed by those he mentored, shared a kind word or a coffee.
Tony was happiest when he was in the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing with friends, fishing on the Miramichi River and in remote parts of Newfoundland, and hunting with his dad and uncles. Tony loved to read – usually fiction, especially the newest John Grisham novel. Tony and his son Hayden had a special bond - they loved going to movies together, to hockey games, or for “men’s breakfast”.
Tony will be missed by his wife and best friend of 21 years, Erin; beloved son, Hayden; adored sister, Tammi (Jay Pinckney); nephew, Jacob Pinckney; mother-in-law, Sherry Morton (Fred); father-in-law, Don Richard; sister-in-law, Sasha Stewart (Tim), as well as many uncles, cousins, extended family and cherished friends.
A visitation will take place at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Smythe Street Church on Thursday, March 12th, 2026, at 11:00 am with Pastor Chad Billington as clergy. Tony will be interred near his father, Stan, at the St. James the Greater Anglican Church Cemetery, Ludlow, New Brunswick later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Tony’s name to the Miramichi Salmon Association, to St. James the Greater Anglican Church in Ludlow, or to SmytheStreet Church would be greatly appreciated.
