I never met Bud Hartley, but I remember hearing him on the radio gardening program several years ago. It isn't mentioned in his life story. But I was always impressed that he would not use his presence on that program to promote his own gardening business. He would say that things were available at any of the local gardening shops. Best wishes to all of his family. Bill Walker

Linda, Joanna, Joel & Kyle - We are so sorry to hear of Bud’s passing. The Hermits are legendary, as were the many house party’s our families shared. Bud’s booming voice is something that comes to mind immediately and his teasing sense of humour. He is missed.

Our sincere sympathies to Linda and all of the family. We met Bud in July 1975, we were moving into our lot here on Hanwell. We had a mobile home(trailer) and we were having trouble moving it in on our lot. Bud showed up with his equipment (payloader) and moved the trailer in without any hesitation and if I recall no charge. He was a good person. Hildor and Marlene Pinette

I first met Bud in 2009 in Tropical Palms, Florida. My wife Shirleen and myself had relocated from Stoneybrook in Estero the previous year. For all my trying there I couldn't get in with a group to play golf with. We had just arrived at 43 Pine and were unpacking when there was a knock on the door and Bud said "I hear you would like to golf". We had many great times on and off the course. One of his sayings if you were talking to loud when he was teeing off was " Don't let your conversation interfere with my swing". "Crime on Pine" was another saying! He had a great sense of humour.
We first started playing at Sunnybreeze and from there we moved on to Port Charlotte. Bud negotiated the green fees for us! The fish and shrimp get togethers. The pot luck at the end of golf season at the clubhouse. Playing pool. All great memories. We were fortunate to visit him and Linda when we visited the Maritimes in the summer of 2025. Our deepest sympathies to Linda and family. Frank Neil and Shirleen Kelly
