Obituary of Gail Margaret (née Walker) Dennison
With love and tenderness, we will remember Gail Margaret Dennison (née Walker), who died relatively quickly from complications of mixed dementia. Born in Montreal and raised mainly in Toronto, Gail made Fredericton, New Brunswick her home in 1973.
Gail worked in Kingston, Ontario and Fredericton, where she served as a Registered Nurse, a lecturer of nursing, and a consultant with the Department of Health for the Government of New Brunswick. She holds diplomas and degrees from the Toronto Western Hospital School of Nursing (Diploma in Nursing), University of Ottawa (Bachelor of Science) and University of New Brunswick (Master of Education). In addition to tending her beautiful home, garden, family, and friends, Gail dedicated her energy to many community-building organizations, including the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation, Girl Guides of Canada, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, and Dance Fredericton.
Gail is predeceased by her husband, Don; her brother, Wayne Walker (Anne-Marie); and her parents, Evelyn and Alvin Walker. She is survived by two daughters; Anne (Ken Cullihall) and Christie (Marc Levesque); her brother, Keith Walker (Marg); and three dearly loved and cherished granddaughters, Tess Cullihall and Beatrice and Celeste Levesque; as well as nieces and nephews.
Naturally athletic and socially engaging, Gail enjoyed belonging to tennis, skiing and YMCA fitness groups. She was also an enthusiastic reader of fiction and nonfiction alike, an accomplished pianist in her younger days, and, with Don, a tasteful collector of art, antiques and jazz recordings.
A private celebration for family and invited friends will be held at a later time.
