Obituary of Alfred Brown

It is with sadness, but also deep gratitude for a life exceptionally well lived, that the family of Alfred announces his peaceful passing at the age of 94.

Alfred lived a long, full, and meaningful life defined by hard work, determination, a deep love of family, and an enduring commitment to the Fredericton community. Above all, his proudest achievement was the beautiful life he built with his beloved wife, Leona. Together they shared a remarkable marriage filled with love, loyalty, laughter, and partnership. Their home was centered on family, warmth, and unwavering support.

A respected businessman and entrepreneur, Alfred built and operated multiple successful ventures over the years, leaving a lasting mark on both his industry and the people around him. Among his proudest accomplishments were Best Metals, his scrap business, and AAA Real Estate, a valued partnership with his dear brother, Robert. Together, these reflected the principles that guided his life: vision, perseverance, fairness, and integrity.

Alfred was a devoted father to his cherished daughter, Andrea (Elliot), and his beloved son Iaan (Charlotte), who predeceased him, filling his heart with sorrow.

He was also a proud and loving grandfather to four grandchildren—Amanda, Alex, Samantha, and Molly—each of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride. His wisdom, kindness, sense of humor, and steady presence will remain with them always.

Alfred is survived by his brother Robert (Roz), and was predeceased by his brother Murray (Dorothy); his sister Sylvia (Irving) Myers; and his sister-in-law Ruthie Golosky (Norman, predeceased).

Alfred will be remembered as a man of great character, a personality larger than life—strong, hardworking, generous, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He believed in building something meaningful, whether in business, family, or friendships, and his legacy will live on through all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His family finds comfort in knowing that Alfred lived fully, loved deeply, and leaves behind a lifetime of memories, lessons, and love.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The funeral will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St., Fredericton, on Wednesday, May 6th at 3:30 pm. Interment will take place in the Sgoolai Israel Cemetery, 15 Herschel Ct., Fredericton. Shiva follows at the Delta Hotel, 225 Woodstock Road. Shiva will be Wednesday after the interment, Thursday beginning at 1:00 pm and Friday beginning at 1:00 pm, concluding at sunset.
