Obituary of Rita McAlinden

It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Rita Evelyn McAlinden on May 8th, 2026, at the DECH. She was the daughter of the late William and Kathleen McLaughlin, and was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

Rita was a long time employee of the Department of Justice in Fredericton. She was a world traveller, a marvelous baker, a long time member of the Gilridge Golf Club and Monsignor Boyd and Fredericton Legion Bridge Club.

Rita’s greatest love was for her family. She is survived by daughters Boni Scott and Lori Ann Davis (Tom) of Fredericton, sons Michael of Fredericton, Patrick (June) of Calgary and Gregory (Nancy) of Fredericton. Grandchildren Nicholas, Timmy, Tyler, Eric, Christina and Delainee and great grandchildren Avery, Hudson and Damien.

The family would like to thank Doctors McMullin and Rideout as well as nurses Rachel, Anne Marie and Jackie for their care and kindness.

A private interment will take place. For those who wish donations in Rita's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
