Obituary of Leo "Charles" Rowan
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leo “Charles” Rowan on June 10, 2026 at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton, NB.
Charles was born in Fredericton, on February 9, 1948, and was the son of the late Leo H. and Marion L. (Crowley) Rowan. Charles studied Forestry and Biology at UNB and worked in land management for the Province of New Brunswick. Mid-career, he changed from managing development of land to the development of consciences. Charles obtained a Master’s degree in Moral Theology from St. Michael’s College; helped create the Concerned Youth for Development group at FHS; was active in lay formation with the Church; and worked for St. Dunstan’s parish, the Diocese of Saint John and Archdiocese of Moncton in adult religious formation before his retirement.
Charles was predeceased by his parents and his loving wife, Marilyn. Charles is survived by his sons; James (Deserie) Rowan, Edmonton, AB and David (Laura) Rowan, Pictou County, NS; grandchildren, Rachel Rowan, Fredericton and Molly Rowan, Pictou County, NS; sister, Patricia (Perley) Brewer, Fredericton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at McAdams Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles’ name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
