EDNA FAYE (MACLEAN) BOUTILIER
Saying goodbye to our/my beautiful Aunt Edna is incredibly hard. While her physical presence is no longer with us, the impact she had on OUR family lives, WILL never FADE. We all feel some comfort knowing you are at peace now and resting safely in HEAVEN!
One of her many qualities was her unique way of making you feel heard, understood, and loved.
I remember one time you came to 32 Queen St when I was a very young girl, you drove up in this beautiful light yellow convertible car. You had the top down on the car. All I could see was your little tiny head. The car was so long and and big and such a elegant looking beauty. Out you jump all 5 ft whatever, with the biggest grin and you said “How do you like my new car?”
I remember thinking “gee I hope I'm like her when I grow up.”
You just loved that car, you were so proud of your accomplishment.
Many times you came to your oldest sister house Ruby (my Mom) just to chat, brings treats, or tell us what your next moves in life might be. To me you were so adventurous. Being a nurse and working hard and wanting to do things. You even took a year off high school to save money for books and expenses to finish the last year. Back in them days things were not all free. I thought when I heard she is so dedicated and really wants to be a nurse.
Over the years you moved to different places in Canada, but you always took time for a letter, a phone call, post card, even a few pictures of what was going on in your life. I really looked forward to them all.
I stayed at you place when you lived in Newcastle a few weekends here and there. I was never bored. You would be showing me knitting, hooking rugs, making puzzles. We might have even went to Bingo. You loved all that stuff and to me it was all so interesting.
Family has meant a lot to you and where you came from, you and my Mom talking about stories about farm life in Napan N.B. . Growing up, yous would be haying in the field with your father getting scratches on your bare legs, no pants in them days also milking cows, and riding on the back of the horse wagon, and of course watching or helping your Mother churning butter or making home made bread or some thing.
Edna so loved to sit and chat and hear all that was going on with any of us she talked to, to the smallest detail in our lives. Edna had a sense of humor and the cutest little laughing grin , you could not help but laugh along. You loved our family get together's and always wanted to be there if you could. We just loved when you could show up.
You my Dear Aunt are going to be missed greatly! My/ Our hearts are heavy!
