Obituary of Amanda Elizabeth Blaney-Steen

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Amanda Elizabeth Blaney-Steen, who was born on November 4, 1979, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and passed away on June 29, 2026, at the age of 46.

From the time she was a little girl, Amanda had the biggest smile and the brightest blue eyes that could light up a room. Those who knew her as a child, they will remember her joyful spirit, a warmth that remained with her throughout her life.

Amanda was the beloved daughter of the late Sassimint "Sassi" Grace. She inherited her mother's compassionate spirit and was known for her caring heart and unwavering love for those around her.

Amanda attended night school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, always guided by her desire to care for others. Whether through her work or in her everyday life, she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Life brought Amanda many challenges, but she faced them with resilience and continued to share kindness, compassion, and positivity with those around her. She loved fiercely, gave generously, and had a way of making people feel accepted, understood, and cared for.

Amanda leaves behind her fiancé and the love of her life, Joseph Watson; her beloved children, Casey, Olivia, Baylee, and Autumn; stepdaughter, Regan; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Scarlett and Jasper, who will carry her memory forward. She will be missed beyond measure by her lifelong dearest best friend and confident, Amanda (McGivery) Harvey, and co-parents, Angus Blaney and Rebecca Atkinson. She is lovingly remembered by her great aunt, Peggy Blunston;  her aunt, Sabrina Harnish (Scott); her uncle, Daniel Fowler (Mary); her foster father, Bill Hovey (Bonnie); her cousins, Shealynne, Kristen, Zachary, Mitchell, Connor, Jack, Hunter, and Ethen; her second mom and lifelong family friend, Patricia Price; and the many relatives and friends whose lives were touched by her warmth, generosity, and love.

Along with her mother, Sassimint "Sassi" Grace, Amanda was predeceased by her great grandmother and grandfather, Barbara E. and Charles E. Blunston, her beloved Nana, Sharon M. Ferguson and Grampy Fred H. Ferguson; grandfather, Daniel B. Fowler, great uncles, Bob, Don and Jack, and her cousins, Robbie Chessie, Cory, and Jason Blunston. 

Amanda will be remembered for her loving heart, her strength through adversity, and the compassion she showed to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Although our hearts are heavy with her loss and her time with us was far too short, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her beautiful smile, gently fierce spirit, and caring nature will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Amanda's life will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel. Words of Remembrance will begin at 6:30pm.
