celebration of Life in Saint John - soon

Obituary of Claire Susan Jenkins

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Claire Susan Jenkins on September 25th, 2026, in Fredericton. Born on March 31st, 1953, in Saint John, she was the beloved daughter of the late George and Carmen Jenkins.

Claire dedicated her life to her family and her spirituality. She lived each day with unmatched joy and fervor, and her open heart was her superpower. In her earlier days, Claire was an exceptional student. She graduated from St. Vincents in 1971, and went on to study Spanish at St. Thomas University, where she was the valedictorian of the class of 1975. After University, she took an adventure to live and teach in Spain.

After becoming a mother, Claire spent many years at home with her kids, then moved on to teaching in the New Brunswick school system, spent time at NB Power, then moved on to teaching craft. She finished out her career at the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and retired in 2018. A devout Catholic, she explored many forms of spirituality and religion throughout her beautiful life and especially in her later years. The one common thread throughout her spiritual journey was the belief that Love is at the center of all things. She adored her family and loved her children fiercely; she would do anything for anyone who needed it.

She was an avid maker and as many knitters do, she loved to collect yarn and knit for hours. Her creations are still treasured by her family through generations and time. Music was a big part of her life, and Claire sang whenever she had the chance. She was an amazing choir singer and loved a wide range of music, from spiritual and soul to 70’s folk.

Claire had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen. She met people where they were, offering comfort, care and kindness when it was needed most.  She left a lasting impression on everyone that was fortunate to know her.

Claire is survived by her daughter Alexa Power (Phil), son, Chrisitan Robichaud and two Grandchildren Frank (7) and Ava (11) who meant the world to her. She is also survived by her loving sister Pauline Price (Mike), along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held in Saint John soon.

As a proud cat lover, Claire would be delighted with donations made in her name, to the Oromocto SPCA.
