Saddened to hear of Stan's passing. I did not know Stan personally, but did know his father Stan. As a small child, my family often went to Alec's Pond on the weekends for a day of swimming and having a picnic. My father, Gordon Welton would often stop at the store on the way and pick up things. Of course as a child and penny candy was alive and well, I would go in with him. I always thought the man that ran the store, and who always gave me a treat, was called Stanley CHOP! I would say hello Mr. Chop and he would laugh. I thought I would share that with you during this time of sadness. Deepest Condolences Rona (Welton) Erickson

Iris, my sincere condolences to you. I will cherish the wonderful times we had at camp with Stan. He was always so willing to share his talents with camp repairs or offering fishing secrets once you earned his respect. Enjoyed his cooking and loved seeing his floral arrangements that complemented his meals. Hugs to you Iris. Miss seeing both of you.

Stan enriched the lives of those who knew him and I feel so blessed to have known him. He is the only man I have every known who would wake at the crack of dawn, fish the St. Lawrence River for breakfast that he then cleaned and grilled on the hot and ready charcoal BBQ he had waiting. And all well before any other adult in the old houseboat even woke for the day. I fondly remember every single encounter with Stan since the 1970's. Wishing you Iris, Laurie, Nancy, Wendy and your families much peace, comfort and love at the loss of such a wonderful man. Stan's memory will live on as he made everything memorable.

Dear Iris and family, we were saddened to see Stan's smiling face in today's list of obituaries. Having said this, we know how challenging the last months and years of his life were and are comforted in knowing that you and he had come to terms with his reality. Stan was a great man and a good friend to many including to the two of us and to our shared alma mater, the University of New Brunswick. Stan was very fortunate to have you by his side these past 25 years. It was a pleasure for us to watch your relationship flourish over the past quarter century. You fit well together and you brought happiness to all of us who knew you as a couple. Our thoughts are with you and Stan's children and grand children. Bob and Gisele

PHIL & VERA BIRD posted a condolence
It was indeed a terrible shock to learn of Stan's passing. How could it not be, when you lose a dear, close friend of almost 68 years? We first met at our initial U.N.B.Red Bombers football practice in 1954. Vera met Stan two years later.Fortunately we were able to remain in close contact over the years, particularly when Joan and Stan moved to Montreal from Moncton (Baie d'urfe) when we lived in Pointe Claire. In 1966 after that, both families got together often at Lobster parties chinese dinners, tobogganing and some pretty wild New Years Eves.Latterly we were together with Stan & Iris in Fredericton and Florida and Beaconsfield on many occasions. Our sincere condolences to Iris and all family members. "REST IN PEACE OLD FRIEND" Phil and Vera Bird

Iris, we had no idea that Stan had passed. We are so sorry. My memory goes back to a fishing camp on the Mirimachi. Ted Williams Place. I had invited a group of girls to join me to fish, and Stan came in one day with a guide and all of us had a great chat. We did not catch a fish,. I am so sorry. Covid has kept us out of the public domain for over two years, but, I hope you are OK.
